Family Outreach of Amherst hosts an annual “Salute to Families” book event each spring and this year’s will take place March 26.
We are lucky to have author Leslie Garis this year, who has written a memoir, House of Happy Endings, about growing up in Amherst in a famous but dysfunctional family. Her grandparents were children’s book authors, creators of the Uncle Wiggly series, the Bobbsey Twins, and Tom Swift, among others.
Please join us for a compelling evening with Leslie Garis titled "An Amherst Childhood Lost and Found". Ms. Garis will share insight into the process of revisiting her past and the role writing played in her personal journey.
Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in Cole Assembly Room, Converse Hall at Amherst College. The talk will be moderated by Pulitzer Prize winner Madeleine Blaise.
Tickets will be available at the door, or call 413-549-5999 for reservations. $25 Benefactor / $10 General admission / $5 Seniors / Free to students
