Locally Raised, 100% Grass Fed Lamb
Crescent Moon Farm offers 100% grass fed, locally raised lamb. Our lambs and ewes graze on our rolling pasture in Belchertown, and we never feed them grain, animal byproducts, or artificial growth hormones. Feeding lambs only grass results in high quality, delicious meat that is leaner and more nutritious than anything you will find on the grocery store shelf. We have loin and rib chops, shanks, leg of lamb, stew and ground meat available, as well as whole and half lambs for the value-conscious lamb lover with freezer space! Annual Merry Maple Celebration
The Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce announces the Annual Merry Maple celebration will be held Friday, November 30, 2007 (rain date Friday, December 7). The event kicks off a weekend long community celebration including music, shopping, eating, decorating, and merriment.
The Merry Maple celebration has been a tradition for over 30 years and signals the start of the holiday season for many in the community. This year the Chamber has partnered with Family Outreach of Amherst to promote the agency’s Annual Toy Drive which provides new toys, clothing, books and games to local children in need. Community residents and others interested are encouraged to bring their Toy Drive donations to the Merry Maple celebration, when a truck donated by Cowls Building Supply will be on hand to collect. The Merry Maple Celebration is also sponsored by the Chamber Insurance Program (CIP) and Promoting Downtown Amherst (PDA).
The celebration begins at 4:00 pm at the Carriage Shops with a special guest appearance by The Very Hungry Caterpillar from The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst. At 4:30pm on the Town Hall steps the Amherst Regional Middle School 7th Grade Chorus, led by David Ranen, will perform for the lighting at 4:45 pm followed by the Heart of the Valley Chorus. The University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, led by George N. Parks, will lead revelers to the Town Common for the sing along at 5:30 pm. The event culminates that evening with the opportunity to see Santa and enjoy hot cocoa at the Amherst History Museum on Amity Street. Parent Workshop: An IEP for My Child
December 6th, 2007, 7-9 PM Amherst Middle School Library sponsored by the *SEPAC* and The Association For Community Living Every child with a disability who receives special education services must have an Individual Education Program (IEP). This workshop takes parents step-by-step through the development of the IEP including how to articulate a Vision, using evaluations to write annual measurable goals and how to measure their child’s progress. Workshop materials are also available in Spanish. This is an extremely valuable workshop to attend to get a better understanding of how to develop an effective IEP.
Special Education Parent Advisory Council
*What is the Special Education Parent Advisory Council?*
*Special Education Parent Advisory Councils (SEPACs) are a requirement of the Massachusetts Special Education Regulations. Each school district is required to have a Parent Advisory Council on Special Education. We are a system-wide organization of Amherst, Pelham, and Amherst Regional parents/guardians of school aged children (preschool -grade 12) with disabilities and other interested individuals. We work in partnership with our schools and administration to promote an innovative educational environment where children with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities and that our schools are safe, nurturing, challenging learning environments for ALL children. We assist schools and families in reducing the frustrations that parents can experience when they first stumble into special education, by providing informational handouts, educational workshops, and informal discussion meetings to focus on continually improving educational opportunities to our children. As a SEPAC, we can network resources and provide assistance to other parents in accessing information about the special education process. For more information Check out our website at: www.arps.org/sepac/ To receive our E-Newsletter, Highlights in Special Education, send us an email to arpssepac@arps.org

Calling all Volunteers...
Walking Wednesday - TURKEY TROT and CANNED FOOD DRIVE...
"Safe Routes to School" program will be hosting a Turkey Trot and canned food drive on Wednesday, November 14th . We need a minimum of 10 volunteers to hand out feathers (3) and direct/greet the kids, help put the feathers on the giant turkey(2), coordinate the turkey naming contest (2-3), and collect and deliver the canned food (2). Volunteers should plan to be at school from 8:15-9:15am.
Upon arriving at school, the walkers and bikers will be greeted by parent/guardian volunteers at rear entrance to the school. Each child will receive a feather to put on a huge turkey in the front lobby. During the day there will be additional Turkey Trots through and around the school so that as many children as possible can add feathers to our gigantic wildwood turkey. Additionally, all the children will enter a “Name the Turkey” raffle. At the end of the day the winning entry will be announced over the loud speaker.
If you would like to volunteer please contact sarah.auerbach@comcast.net
