Parents FAQ about Wildwood School

Welcome to Wildwood School!

Who's in Charge?
The principal, Mark Prince and the assistant principal, Karen Lowe. And of course, the school secretary, Ms. Champoux, is always in the front office to help point you in the right direction!

When does school start and end?
School starts at 8:40am, and the doors open at 8:20am. A free hot breakfast is available in the cafeteria. School ends at 3:05pm, except on Wednesdays when it ends at 1:20pm. Kids who ride the bus are released first, then walkers, then those being picked up by parents. If you are picking your child up, you enter in the rear and wait for your precious tyke in the cafeteria. Also, there are a few days when the school is closed so teachers can catch up on their work, so check the calendars!

How do I know if school is going to be cancelled?
If there is a snow storm or emergency of any kids that may close the school - you will most likely get a phone call at home. You can also call the school closure number: 362-1898. Also most local radio stations will broadcast any closings.

How do I get to know the principals?
Mark Prince, the principal, holds a parent coffee once a month for all parents who have questions or ideas about Wildwood. The assistant principal is Karen Lowe who has been helping to educate kids at Wildwood for almost 30 years! You can set up an appointment to see them by calling the main number (362-1400).

What do I do if I have issues with my child at Wildwood?
If your child has an issue in class, the first person to talk to (after your own wee tyke) is the teacher. Each teacher has their own phone extension where you can leave a message, and they also have an email address. The next level of escalation is the assistant principal (Ms. Lowe). There are also guidance counselors who may be of help to you and your child.

What does the PTO do?
The Wildwood PTO (who runs this website) runs all sorts of programs that help build community around the school. We always needs volunteers! You'll find a list of programs on this website. You can contact the PTO volunteer coordinator Kristen Ford at krisdave23@comcast.net or 230-3095.

What does the School Council do?
The Wildwood School Council is a state-mandated committee that advises the principal on the school, focusing mainly on the budget and the "School Improvement Plan". It is made up of 3 parents and 3 teachers and the principal. Elections for the parent positions are held each year. If you are interested please contact Mark Prince.
