Wildwood Walks to School

Your school is participating in Safe Routes to School, a program offered by MassRIDES, the Commonwealth’s travel options service of the Executive Office of Transportation. The Massachusetts Safe Routes to School program promotes walking and/or bicycling for school trips, while bringing schools customized program design and implementation, materials and programs, and safety enhancements. Your school will receive free student give-away items to initiate and promote the Safe Routes program, plus no-cost educational materials targeted to you, your students, and community leaders.

The Safe Routes to School program gives your children the opportunity to enjoy their trips to school by walking and bicycling. These travel options help improve the environment around your school, and improve the health of the students, while making it safer for children to travel to school. Your children can gain a sense of freedom, have fun, and establish a healthy lifestyle!

How can YOU help?

Get Active! Get Healthy! Help lead a Walking School Bus with parents, guardians, and community members to be with our children, increase safety, and have FUN walking to school. The Walking School Bus is a program that organizes groups of people (children, parents and neighbors) to walk from a designated location to school together.

If you are interested in having your child participate in a Walking School Bus and/or are interested in being a parent volunteer for a Walking School Bus please contact sarah.auerbach@comcast.net if you want to sign up as a walker or volunteer.
Include your name, your child's name, and your phone number and/or email. You may also leave this information in the main office noting it is for the Safe Routes to School Program.
